Last summer I got a rider mower with bags on the back so I could use the grass clippings for mulch. But now I wonder if I should mulch my apple trees with grass clippings.
Does it keep rain from getting into the soil, or does it prevent water from evaporating out of the soil? How high should I heap that mulch around my apple trees?
Is there anything short of a rifle bullet that will keep deer from killing my trees and eating my garden? I've tried sprays and soap and urine which seem to attract them.
Should I prune my cherry trees and my pear tress and my peach trees the same way I prune my apple trees?
And how should I prune my apple trees so they look like the trees in professional orchards?
Last fall I mulched my asparagus. Before the ground froze, I cut back the old stalks to the ground. This year it looks like I lost some plants. Was it because of the mulch or winter kill?
Why do some very poor people who live from hand to mouth with no health insurance too often support a political party that exists for the sole purpose of making the rich richer?
There are a lot of things I'd like to know and these are only a few of them.
Let me know if you can help.
