My mike is on the end of a Radio Shack mike stand. It would work ok if anyone over
4 feet tall stood beside it and spoke into it. But unless I punch a hole in my table
and put the stand on the floor, the angle at which I use the mike is too much for the
clamp to support. My mike used to droop. So, I painted a wrecking bar white
(I wanted it to blend nicely into our home) and taped it onto the mike rod.
But that wasn't enough to support the mike. So I painted a stilson
wrench white and hung that onto the wrecking bar. And now the thing balances perfectly.
You might notice that the wrecking bar is kind of dirty. That's because I took the
stilson off for a minute on a very hot day and the bar slid down through the sticky
black electrician's tape and got it all dirty. I know --- you would have used duct tape.
My friend John from Dover Foxcroft
came in here the other day, looked at my recording studio, and got so homesick
he almost cried.
